A Christmas Story In Four Part Harmony

Lately it seems we have been plagued with an inordinate amount of sadness.  This story, however, is about a precious little dog, a young boy, and the gift of love passed on.

Part I

As stories often do, this one begins in a land far far away with Toby Saluki in dire need, and a whole host of earth angels.

It is 2016, and our story finds us both in Canada with Nejolla and Roxanne, and in Qatar with Kimmy and Toby.   Kimmy Clarkson does incredible work rescuing Salukis in Qatar.

Roxanne had learned about Toby from Nejolla and decided he needed to become a “Martin” and a Canadian citizen.  Nejolla made the flight connections for Toby and his international adventure began.

As luck would have it, things did not go smoothly for Mr. Toby Saluki.  His flight from Qatar to Canada included a 31-hour layover in Amsterdam.  It was Nejolla to the rescue with friends in Amsterdam who took Toby in and cared for him until his travels could continue.  Toby finally arrived in Canada in December in time for Christmas. He was welcomed and loved by Roxane, and they became inseparable. 

Part II

Roxane was a warrior and a Breast Cancer survivor.  Sadly, the cancer returned and she lost her last battle on December 8^th, 2022. Nejolla contacted Sarah Fairbrass in hopes of her having connections for rehoming Toby and his now brother, Mr. Blue Basenji.  Roxanne’s family already have a dog and a new baby on the way in January.

Part III

Enter Judy Bobke, also a cancer warrior and survivor.  Judy jumped into action to find the perfect home.  Within a couple of days Judy had found a wonderful home for both Toby and Blue with a young boy named Logan.  Logan had never had a dog before and bonded instantly with the two precious pups. Toby and Logan wouldn’t leave each other’s side.

Having never had dogs before, no one knew that Logan was severely allergic to them.  He wound up in the hospital and Toby and Blue went back to Roxanne’s family while Judy got to work on another home for the dynamic duo.  Toby and Blue are together with a loving family, but Logan is terribly sad.

Valentine’s Day 2019:  Ms. Sarah Fairbrass, of Victoria, Canada became the proud mom of a Lorraine Kline Greyhound named Scooby Do. Scooy Do was one of many hounds Lorraine lovingly made and donated to Hound Power to help raise money for Rescue Groups and Shelters. Sadly we lost Ms. Lorraine around this time last year.

Sarah lost her Ms. Maisy, Labrador in 2019. Scooby has really missed Maisy since she went to the Rainbow Bridge and has been very lonely. Sarah felt so bad for Logan whose little heart was just broken having to let Toby go, she told Scooby the story on Christmas Eve.

As Scooby listened to the story, the most magical thing happened. Scooby sprouted Saluki ears. Ms. Sarah gave Scooby huge hugs and helped him pack his bags.  As you read this, Logan will have become the loving dad to Mr. Scooby Do Greyhound/Saluki.  (a new adoption certificate will be forthcoming to make sure it is a lifelong bond.

Part IV

While this story has been unfolding, more earh angels are trying to find a hypoallergenic dog for Logan.  The only breed that may be truly hypoallergenic is the Bedlington Terrier. 

This may be a tall order for Santa to fill.  But as you can see, this story is already full of love and miracles.
